The Dirt on Downey's
Since 1924, four generations of Downeys have harvested the world-class soils just north of Toronto, growing potatoes for taste. We sell to consumers, retailers, processors, restaurateurs and more. We also work with growers across North America and as far as Peru, to develop varieties good enough to carry our name or yours. We do it all: grow, package, distribute and market.
Our potatoes are GMO free, and we grow our Organics so that nothing non-organic gets near them. Above all, we guarantee distinctive taste in every potato. So whether you need three pounds or three million, look for us in stores, or reach out and let's grow something together.

More on buying local benefits
Downey Farms is a locally owned and operated family company. Even as we expand, we keep in close contact with our farmers, the land we grow our potatoes on, and the communities that surround us. Downey Farms operates our packing plant on 3rd line Melancthon, just outside of Shelburn Ontario, a short one hour drive from Toronto. We grow some of our organics and conventional potatoes in very close proximity, with more varieties growing in the Saugeen Valley, Dufferin and Norfolk Counties, and Leamington.

A Wide Range of Potatoes
Downey Farms offers several varieties of potatoes to fit everyone's needs. Russet, Red, Yellow, White, in sizes ranging from new crop Minis, all the way to our large Chef size potatoes.
Not only do we offer a wide range of products, but we also offer a library of recipes to try out! Try out some common favorites, like Homefries, Poutine, and Stuffed Baked Potatoes.
